Day 14: Set It To Rights

Think of a time you let something slide, only for it to eat away at you later. Tell us how you’d fix it today.

While we were packing up my soon-to-be-ex-boyfriend’s furniture to move it into my apartment, I saw a live cockroach in one of his dresser drawers. As soon as I made a move to squash it, it disappeared to another part of the dresser. His brother’s girlfriend, who was helping us with the move, loudly advised me to find and kill it.
“You don’t want cockroaches in your place!” she said.
I let it slide.
A week or two later, I walked into my kitchen and found a cockroach – possibly the same one – on the kitchen counter.
This time, I killed it.
Unfortunately, the thing about vermin is that just because you got rid of one doesn’t mean you got rid of the rest.
Ain’t that a bit*h.
If I’d known better, I’d have killed the first one on sight.
Instead, I signed up for months of endless chemical interventions and numerous extermination and eviction attempts using all manner of chemicals that did God knows what long-term damage to my system.
Ya live and learn!
